Parts
Can anyone point me in the right direction for trim parts for my C5 exclusive 2008. I've creased the rear bumper chrome strip and as I intend selling the car.............Its less hassle haggling when that's all that's "broken.

Re: Parts
A little more info would help - there are over 25 parts to the rear bumper! Is it a Saloon or Estate?
If it's a Saloon and it's just the chrome trim you want these are the part numbers:
Rear Passenger Left Side Bumper Moulding (Chromium Grey) Part: 7452 SR
Rear Passenger Right Side Bumper Moulding (Chromium Grey) Part: 7452 SS
Rear Bumper moulding (Chromium Grey) Part: 7452 WG
If it's anything else you want, you'll have to be a bit more precise

Re: Parts
Hi marc. Sorry yes its a saloon and its one part so a bit confused to your part numbers. The exclusive has chrome bits everywhere but at the back its a complete curved chrome strip that sits on the top of the bumper, where the boot lid just touches. A simple replacement chrome strip wont fit as the bloody French have not onloy put a kink in it but the edges are slightly curved and the ends cut at an angle and then curved as well.....but its deffo one piece.

Re: Parts
Hi Mike, I'll have another look but there are the only 3 chromed strips for the bumper part. The last part 7452 WG is the long part that sits on the top of the bumper and the boot lip would almost touch when closed. This is based on my exclusive saloon, but to make sure, can you send me a PM with your VIN and I'll be able to double check and post back the parts diagram for you. (Just having my C5 MOTd now so will be home in a couple of hours and it'll only take me a few mins to post.

Re: Parts
Mike as Richard notes, is yours a late registered MK 1 facelift or a X7 from 2008 on? Send me the VIN and we'll be able to double check

The part number is correct for the long chrome 'Central Trim'. However, having looked at the removal procedures and unless you're up for a challenge, I think you might want to re-consider replacing this if you're just going to sell it, as it would seem you have to remove the rear bumper to gain access to the inside, in order to release the clips as shown below: Note the ref at the bottom saying the central trim should always be replaced when removing the bumper. I haven't included the rest of the bumper removal process, just the relevant bit to highlight the trim:
So maybe a bit of haggling over the selling price instead - considering the cost of the part too? If the central trim has to be replaced for a bumper strip down, one would assume this may be a one-way process for the central trim - and that getting it off might mean it will break and therefore is not intended to be re-used. The fact that I can't even find a used central trim yesterday on several parts sites might also confirm that this is a part with a one-time use only

Re: Parts
@ Mike I believe so. Only the side trims can be unclipped from the outside by the looks of things. If you tried to yank the central trim off you would simply break all the securing clips holding it on from inside the bumper and wouldn't be able to fit another one in its place as the clips would all be shattered. I know, seems daft!

Re: Parts
Not possible. Look closely at the yellow clip in my second diagram. It passes through the blue plastic from the central trim once inserted from the outside and then locked in place. If you pull it out you will simply break the clips and these are part of the bumper!jgra1 wrote:maybe you can break it off (the clips) and refit the new one Mikal? without taking the bumper off ?
In short, they haven't designed key hole surgery for bumper trim!

Re: Parts
That would seem to be the case. It would probably be such a faff trying to get the plastic off these clips without breaking anything whilst trying to thread it back out. At least they warn you to get a new trim ready! There's quite a bit to do before you even get to this bit too!

Re: Parts
Taking the bumper off is not a big deal...............
Buy the part and present it to the buyer saying you did not have the 1 hour needed to fit it..........no discount
