Underneath the razamatazz! they are a pair of 1965 Morris Ambulances.

Probably somethinglike this

Image
The base hire charge for each bar is £1100 for a one day event. This price includes the bar and costumed staff. Delivery is £1 per mile round trip, from our base in postal code area RH20.

To hire the Bird Cage Stage or Copper Feathers Installation above the bar, there is an additional charge of £650

Cocktails are £7
You can probably see how to make things pay they would have to charge those type of prices, and I shudder to think of the price of a concession to sell cocktails, at major prestigious events.,so good luck to them for providing something different.

Those old Morrisses are very attractive :)

Those hire charges are a bit steep, no wonder the cocktails are so expensive!

Where better than the Pickled Egg, for a bit of conversation about music you have just "discovered".

Heard something odd on Graham Norton's show on Radio 2 today. Didn't hear it introduced, but it was striking enough for me to look it up on the playlist for his show to find out what it was.

Turns out it was this

John Harle-Silencium

and Turns out he's from the Toon!

and when accompanied with a few icy scenes a contender for the PE Winter Jukebox

Just sent that to my youngest, she loves it and will be made up that John Harle is from Newcastle.

On the subject of film music I can't allow the opportunity to pas without dragging this to your attention.
The theme from House Of Flying Daggers.

The whole production is amazing but the part from 4' 30" is breathtaking.

Really needs good stereo equipment - I have the concert on DVD that plays through some fairly decent gear and it is staggering - the whole concert.

She was 11 years and a few days old there.

Even on the world's tin-i-est speakers, i.e. those on my laptop, you still get the staggering and breathtaking :)

Suggestions for reading material to be placed in the snug always welcome. In the meantime here's a bit of light reference material, should any arguments break out about the stage coach and road network, inns, staging posts and country seats in 1828, or the distance from Newport Pagnell to Holyhead (222miles 4 furlongs according to Cary)

The landlord has just found some dusty bound volumes of "Cycling and Moting" in the attic from 1902 to 1912. That was from the early days when the new-fangled "Moting" (car-driving) was thought to be a pastime that might replace cycling. The title changed over the years but was a forerunner of todays "Cycling Weekly".

Looking forward to reading those whilst I sip my decaff soy latte :D

Cycling Weekly celebrates its 125th year of publication this year and in fact only a couple of issues have been missed in that time due to world wars!
