As per: all OK except ONE !
On dismantling all goes well, until I get to the last one which has been mullered into a nice round hole and looks as if it has been tightened with a pair of mole grips
I am a little worried about using a similar method as I do not wish to snap off the head of the bolt.
.....now can I hammer on a socket ?, should I hammer in a larger hex bit ?... without damaging the coil pack with the shock of doing this ? I am a little unsure how delicate these packs are.
Any other tips always accepted

Re: Advice: V6 coil pack bolts
I would first give the screw a few firm thumps with a hammer, using a flat face punch for access, it may just jolt it loose. Then I would hammer in a hex or torx bit that will be a tight fit, maybe an imperial hex bit if you have one a suitable size.

Re: Advice: V6 coil pack bolts
GOT IT.....hammered a Torx bit into it ....gulp. The forward coil pack came out fine after that.
The No.1 plug socket had a little oil but not much and it soaked up with some paper towel.
I then removed the intake chamber to access the rear bank coil pack.
Interestingly I found another LeBodge.....
No bolts holding it in !............ a strip of pine with some foam stapled to it to hold it down with pressure from the intake chamber !....WTFudge !

Re: Advice: V6 coil pack bolts
Funny how the coil pack screws always seem to get very tight... They don't need to be!
Pleased you sorted it Alasdair

Which engine is this on Alasdair? Ex-GG, the Latvian or the Frenchie?
Good job you have some spares

Re: Advice: V6 coil pack bolts
That's shocking. My money would have been on the Latvian..
You need a good plug spanner for the V6, a deep one with a rubber bung in it to grab the plug...
Looking forward to seeing you and all this polishing in the metal

Yep, on the 6th. It'll be only a very quick flying visit due to on-going family happenings...Stickyfinger wrote: When are you next down Jim, Dad's birthday ?

Re: Advice: V6 coil pack bolts
To be honest, the LeBodge obviously worked well
I checked, the head bolts have never been touched....so that was as far as they had gone.......so I suspect no further problems
As always Jim, any time, just pop in for a quick pit-stop.
Off to Halfords
