Right update, it seems I was mistaken about where the goings on were going on.. the 'relay noise' and arcing seems actually to be inside the door itself and is, I am sure, the control unit for the one touch driver's window. Basically I can hear an occasional 'fluttering' of a relay in the door. The supposed arcing I saw was no such thing it was the blue light from an after market turbo boost gauge fitted in the space below the switches for the fogs/ alarm/ rear windows override. It is only a sound, not a visible spark.

As an aside, the driver's window is now sometimes failing to respond to the button. Pressing it a few times sees it spring to life.

I think a power feed to the control box is bad. Will investigate at the W/E

Good that you've made progress.

Not familiar with the setup, but chief suspects must be either damp/corrosion in a connector inside the door, or something in the wiring loom through the door has fractured due to age/constantly being worked back/forth all these years.

Yes its definitely the one touch relay that's going loopy. It just buzzes intermittently and the window will not move in this state. Passenger window is fine

Well, I had a closer look at this and found that the control box of the one touch driver window was buzzing crazy style. With the cover removed and reconnected to the block connector the two little relays in the unit were fluttering like a pair of noisy electric moths. No sign of any bad bits on the solders of the control box 'board and no visible issues of connections at the block connector either. I think the problem is with the control box itself. Switch eliminated and supply voltage eliminated. The control box was only just replaced! Well, I refitted the bridging wires I had used before to eliminate the control box and let the window go up and down via the switch albeit with none of the 'one touch'.

It's working very well for a few days now so I'll probably just keep it like this
