Hi all,
Not for me, but a friend of a friend.
They've had the cambelt let go on one of these apparently.
Does anyone know if these are an interference engine (and therefore mangled mess of valves/pistons likely)?
Or not? (in which case hopefully just time it up, stick a new belt on and away they go).
Thanks
Edit: fuel Corrected in subject
Edit 2: removed engine size because apparently they don't know what engine size it is after all, at the moment...
If I can get the reg number, I'll look it up myself and get some straight facts over!

Re: C4 Grand Picasso 1.7D engine question
Presumably, you are referring to a 1.6 hdi engine.
This is an interference fit engine, Most likely it will have broken all the rockers and damaged a few of the valve lifters as well.
Not a massively expensive job to fix on parts, but potentially a huge undertaking to repair. Removing the cam cover on these engines can take an awful long time, just getting the injectors out can be a huge job.

Edit, my bad... They didn't specify fuel and I just assumed it was a diesel... It is in fact, a petrol

Re: C4 Grand Picasso PETROL engine question
Must be a 1.8, either way it's definitely going to need the head off, all valves will be bent most likely.

Thanks lighty.
Yep, I had come to conclusion it must be the 1749 (badged as a 1.8 by the looks!)
