Pretensioner woes

Reading back over this thread, because I have a similar problem following my minor accident in the C5. The pretensioners fired. I've replaced them with un-fired ones from a breaker, been in with Lexia and reset the ECU (cleared the fault codes) but the fault keeps re-appearing every time after re-starting the ignition.
I've even been into the airbag ECU settings, configured it for no pretensioners (just to see how it would behave) and it still comes back with the fault

I will try the resistor test today, but I wonder if the ECU is a 'one shot deal' (i.e. that it's hard written once the airbags or pretensioners have been deployed). Bloody annoying if so

Thinking ahead for removing one from a breaker/changing mine... It says above that you can see the plug/wiring by just moving the gear shift linkages aside, but does that mean you remove the ECU without taking the centre of the dash and gearshift out completely, or is that necessary?

I will NOT swear to this, but I think I saw on this forum somewhere that somebody was able to send off their airbag ECU to get reset back to normal function. I think (but I am NOT certain) it was DHallworth and a C6 that had had its airbags fire when it had clipped a kerb. I hope that I am right.

The easiest and cheapest option is probably a used airbag ECU module. Match the numbers and the brand on the labels on the top of your old ECU. There will be no programming involved, simply plug and play. Search on eBay.
There are also several outfits who can reset the crash data on your existing ECU.

That GL15 post code is the same as mine must be pretty close to me. Mine is GL15 6LE

I have done some checking, and it turns out my memory was correct. David Hallworth did get a C6 which had had its airbags trigger, and sent the airbag ECU off to get it sorted. Check from page 68 of the following link;

Thanks, good to know I expect I can pick up an ecu from my local breakers for £15-£20 at the weekend. I'll ask David what he had to pay to get his cleared and see which works out the best.
