Improving sound quality

Post by C5_Jack »

Hi All

Coming from an Audi A6, the only part of my C5 i want to updated is the sound systems.
The car is fitted with the RT6 AUDIO/TELEPHONE REMOTE DISPLAY

A few question:

What is the best route to improve the sound quality?
Can someone recommend a company who could take on the work if required?

Cheers

Sound dampening of the doors and putting better component speakers (the door panels must come off for this) ... but don't expect a stellar quality sound with the factory audio ...

I have been reading your posting about the extensive mods your did to your car and it is quite impressive...
How difficult is it to change the speakers? Which one would you recommend?

I think the member Xantippa could be of more help here, as he did changes to his sound system ... it isn't that difficult, but the job is a hassle by the need of removing the entire door panel off ... and you won't be ale to use the Citroen connector, but rather solder the wires to the new speakers (and quite possibly cut out the plastic cup holder out, if the new speakers have more depths to their magnet) ... I'm also considering doing this, but it's hard to imagine the potential gain (I was thinking of Hertz speakers, price range 100 GBP for a pair), but this is currently on hold, as I have other projects on the car that I want to finish properly

My 09 exclusive had the standard "pants" head unit which sounded pretty crap. Changing the head unit for an aftermarket Alpine unit has made a stellar change in sound quality, the factory fit speakers are surprisingly good with a decent input.

I want to keep my car looking as original as possible
This is what I have https://app.box.com/files/0/f/0/1/f_48916038597 (RT6) which looks quite nice
This is why I was thinking in changing the speakers first

Better speakers will help, but in all honesty the stock radios are always a compromise, the only reason I put mine back to stock is the radio i had previous was crap, and so i could use the wheel controls and cd changer!
