Getting wires from cabin into engine bay

Unread post by Sloppysod »

Does anyone know where the cable entry grommets are so I can pass wires from inside the cabin into the engine bay (or the other way) on a C5 X7? I have had a quick look and I could not see any and I do not really want to cut a new hole.
I could try looking again but I am trying not to remove unnecessary plastic, so I thought I would ask first.
thanks in advance

f-w-i-w - modern cars tend not to have holes with grommets but multi-pin connectors, one1/2 of which is such a tight fit in its hole as to be, to all intents & purposes, fixed to the bulkhead.

If length is not important how about the fuel tank access grommet, assuming that model has one.

How many wires & how thick are they ? Many Citroen models from the Xantia onwards have 4 spare wires going through the bulkhead already designed as repair wires but can be used for accessory fitting without disturbing bulkhead connectors or grommets. The mk1C5 definitely has them but not sure about the mk2 or mk3. They can be found above the BSI on the mk1 & they terminate underneath the under bonnet fusebox. they are just 4 wires that look like they have been cut. you need to do a continuity check to confirm which one is which at each end as they are all the same colour on the C5.

Not sure if the mk 3 has them or not as ive never really done much work to mk3's. I would imagine they are in the same place if they have them.

Hi, and thanks for your comments.
The two wires, one with a connector on the end, about 6mm (1/4") and the other 2.2mm (3/32") diameter. If there are those spare wires they would not be any good to me. I think I have found a being large grommet high up on the left hand side of the bulk head, when looking under the wheel arch. This may be my way in, just need a stretcher.
