I need to replace the primary handbrake cable on my 1997 Mk1 Xantia - after a front brake binding incident involving both wheels - but part No. 4713 06 is marked 'NFP' on the parts list, and not available from Citroen Australia or France. (The secondary cables are stock in Oz and on their way)
Is there a chance of this part still being available at a large dealership in the U.K/Europe and how would one go about tracking it down?

Re: Xantia handbrake cable - source
Generally Robert, if a part is marked NFP then sadly it will not be available anywhere even though some dealers may well have one in stock... Unfortunately the central system cannot seem to identify the fact in my experience.
Those cables generally give very little trouble, being protected under the exhaust heat shield.
You should therefore be fine with a second-hand one recovered from a scrapper.

Let's hope citroenxm reads this post. It is likely he would have a primary cable or two. Failing that, you might want to contact citronut junior. It is possible that citronut (rest his Soul) would have one or two in the Citroen gold mine.

Thank you all for your feedback.
M Lockwood stock the secondaries at a good price, but not the primary.
Any last suggestions for a new primary before I buy a secondhand unit from the wreckers?

Re: Xantia handbrake cable - source
No, but this seems to be an instance where Citroen has deleted the part from service.citroen, it is not just NFP, there is no part number shown. A very annoying trend.

Re: Xantia handbrake cable - source
I have docbackup on my PC, and when I looked there was no sign of the primary cable. However, it looks like it is considered to be part of the equalizer assembly. This has the part number 4713 06 (for a series 2 Xantia).
