Where do you find these v6 Activa. If I had the room I would be adding another Activa to my collection. Found one in Rotherham at an old guys garage. However he has retired and he is never there to speak to. So what is your plan for the new v6.

How did it all go then Alasdair? I have been wondering... I trust it all went well and you got the car started...

Good to see you early yesterday morning :)

Looking forward to seeing the new arrival next weekend!

All went well Jim, Car accepted the ECU without problems and started no problems.

The car is a bit of a mess under its skin, leaks in a couple of places (not looked fully yet) and has suffered in the same way as UK cars from salt/road gravel and has (to me and my OCD) a lot of rust. Subframes/Mounts look like the metal has suffered there as well.
Engine seems good as does the box, selecting gears and clutch/changes seem smooth, it drove up the ramps well. (not a great road test really :))
Interior is all there with the normal damaged drivers seat leather. Has LHD instruments.
Lights now UK spec
I'm glad I only gave a few quid for it....

Towing with that trailer was horrid....it pitched and bucked all the way home even with it loaded balanced...Never again, it was a HORRID drive :(

That's brilliant Alasdair, I'm absolutely delighted it all went very well and that the ECU worked for you :D

It's a 4-wheel trailer isn't it? Mind you, that was quite a load.. Must have been close to the weight of the towcar all-up...

Were you towing it with another Xantia???

What are you going to do? Find a good UK shell and move all the bits across? There are a few UK petrol vehicles around for little money with not much miles or signs of abuse. Last one i saw was a 1.8 S2 with circa 70k miles and 12month ticket for £300!!

That's not such a bad idea actually...

Quite a lot of devil in the detail though... A major project...

Stripping it or trying to save it?

If you think about it Jim, a deshell and reshell is just labour intensive, the wiring looms and bits could be moved over and would allow the chance to rust prevent the usual Xantia areas and leave a very immaculate bodied V6 RHD Activa...

Very labour-intensive Will but yes, if one has the time and facilities, a good one..

Easier, on balance, to do an engine conversion to an existing TCT...

I'm a bit late to chip in here, but I've only just seen the thread so I'll add my 2p worth :)

Personally I'd find a mint TCT and convert that. A job like that can be done in a weekend if you know what you're doing.

If you're reshelling a LHD car it still counts as a modified car, it's not even going to count as an Activa on the V5. At least if you take a TCT Activa the V5 will still show it as an Activa.

The DVLA will change the engine size and engine number without issue, however they will NOT even entertain the idea of going from "Xantia Activa Turbo" to "Xantia Activa V6" as the model so the same would apply with going from a 1.8 petrol to an Activa V6.

The other problem with reshelling is you'd end up having to keep it as a left hooker as a lot of the Activa specific parts would be suited to the LHD car such as the subframes and steering rack etc.

a rare beast indeed, I have yet to find that little bugger "the turbo"...it must be in there just cannot seem to find it.

Nice!!

Get one of those 406 V6 Turbo kits fitted to it... it won't count as modified in that case!!!

All joking aside Alasdair, the V6 inlet manifold does have a little passive cleverness in it that does things to the torque curve..
