That's the one. Captain James Cook, explorer. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have addo here as Australia would have remained undiscovered

part of the inspiration behind Bram Stoker's book "Dracula" came from a stay in Whitby. I wonder how many have gone back to the original book and taken the trouble to read it.

Yes, Oddly and for reasons that escape me, I knew that... Didn't Bram live there for some time as a kid and found one part of the town rather scary?

Dream on, Steve. My family's mostly from Boston and Yarmouth - one way or another I'd have been here to spoil the party.
Creepiest town I've visited was a place called Wollar. Not much there, but enough to unsettle me in a way I couldn't quite put my finger on.
Spotting wise, I did spot in Sydney a lime coloured Volvo 140 yesterday!

Oh, they'd have known that, they were fishing types.
Today's "spot" a very tidy gold pagoda roof Benz hardtop, and a rough seventies Benz convertible with an aerial on each rear wing!
Plus a newish A-M on a recovery truck.
Also, I saw an uncomprehending motorist nearly make raspberry jam out of a motorcyclist.

Up in Aberdeenshire this week, spotted a V plate MK I Ford Fiesta 1.1L in Inverurie today in a nice two tone bronze/gold today. Sadly was driving so no photo, but looked immaculate.

Yep, that's the one, bronze on gold! Badge on the back just said 1.1L though and I'm no expert on Fiestas of that vintage - though I do admit to having a bit of a soft spot for them and their downright oddball exhaust note. That said, I like the (MK I) Metro and Nova as well, guess I just like small, nimble and simple cars!

Re: Classic car Autumn/Winter Collection (Spring/Summer S.H.!)
That model of Fiesta was possibly the best of the lot...
I had a MKII for a while and that was no so good... OK but the original MK1 was the best...
I like small, nimble cars too

Re: Classic car Autumn/Winter Collection (Spring/Summer S.H.!)
Sadly no picture but spotted something very rare this afternoon in Newport Pagnell...
A Gilburn Invader. It was undergoing some significant bodywork restoration as it was dressed only in primer and filler!
A brown one used to like locally but I've not seen it for several years now. May have been one and the same car now being restored...
