Yes, spot on there Jim. The first vehicle to come up on the "Spanish Olive Car" search is this.
Gorgeous body and paint work and an amazingly deep color called Spanish Olive by DuPont.

DuPont must think Spanish Olives are grey :)

Too easy for a whatsthisthen?

Yes. It is the sight-glass to monitor the operation of the drip-feed total-loss lubrication system for the engine...

It was a popular system back in the 20s, especially on motorbikes...
When I used to run British bikes, they all had total-loss lubrication, despite having conventional pressure fed systems :-D

:rofl2: :rofl2:

I once upset the owner of a new Triumph motorcycle a year or so back, one of the ones that look very vintage but is in fact brand-new.

I asked him how much oil it leaked....

Yes,

Triumph owner's garage floors proved to be a useful source of oil during the oil crisis of the 1970's

Not quite as incontinent as the Frauds an Poxhalls of the era though as I recall..

Remember when every parking bay in every carpark had an ever-present wet oil-slick present... Hardly seen these days, even where Citroens park!

I have to agree there, the other pics of the car exterior and interior show a beautifully restored car. Why would you bother buying a new VW :?: (where's the tongue in cheek emoticon :!: :) )

Just to clear up the "Spanish Olive" it does look a little more olive-like here

....Well ....... It is nearly in Spanish Olive - and you don't see many of them in such good order over here  And it was spotted in a rather unusual location - the central bus stop at Chernobyl - now that has to have rarity value :-D
