Re: The Pickled Egg-striving for excellence on trip advisor
....There's a Pickled Egg over here as well, still trading apparently,
....achieved a food hygene rating of 2, from St Helen's Councili in December 2014 so in need of some improvement.
351 Sutton Road St Helens if you are ever in the area and fancy a pint, a pickled egg and a bag of salt and vinegar crisps
regards Neil

Re: The Pickled Egg-striving for excellence on trip advisor
.....continuing on the "Pickled Eggs" around the world theme here's another which unfortunately has now ceased trading under the Pickled Egg name
This time it was sold on and opened under another name
"Pints and Pies Neighbourhood Pub"
Its in the Lehigh Valley otherwise known as the "Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton PA-NJ Metroploitan Statistical Area".
We have sampled the cuisine of this area in the "Somerset Diner" at Easton NJ. Huge portions well recommended.
regards Neil

Re: The Pickled Egg-striving for excellence on trip advisor
Hasn't got a great track history as a pub name, the only surviving one on the entire planet, apart from the FCF's very own virtual pub, is that rather run-down establishment in St. Helens.
The most ancient of Pickled Egg pubs, was one in Clerkenwell London. The current street Crawford Passage, was formely called Pickled Egg Walk. The Crawford name comes from a former licencee of the Pickled Egg.
You wouldn't expect the old boozer still to be surviving.....no this is the streetscape today in Crawford passage
regards Neil

Re: The Pickled Egg-Enjoy the Vulcans national tour today!
....yes not an up and coming "pop" band but this
Its on its Southern route today, but the view from the Picked Egg beer garden is second to none. Things will probably kick off from about 1.00 take off time.
The Pickled egg will of course have a bit of merchandise for you to enjoy

A quick 5 minute drive for me and I'll be sitting on a village green waiting to see her go by. A group of us collected enough money to get a couple of our late friend's names put in the bomb bay, so it'll be a poignant moment as it flies by.

Re: The Pickled Egg-Enjoy the Vulcans national tour today!
I love that Vulcan, saw it last year but no hope really for this year. I find it sad that such an aircraft gets grounded but after the recent disaster it's probably for the best. Anyone know where it shall rest, Duxford I assume? I haven't visited there for years, was my favourite playground in my early years.

Three circuits of the village green at Lurgashall and a howl as she departed.... and it must have been a speck of dust in my eye as she wentNewcastleFalcon wrote:

For those who couldn't be there at such idyllic locations as the Pickled Egg, or Lurgashall you tube usually comes up with the goodsbobins wrote:

Righty-Ho, pay attention........ ! At about 25 seconds in, if you pause, that's me above and to the right of the letter 'R' in 'Farewell' wearing my red motorbiking jacket - I walk to the right just after that The Vulcan did another circuit and departed west to east directly over the pub (sadly not the Pickled Egg, but the Noah's Ark instead), giving it the beans as she left
