Well having consulted the official I-spy rule book i find this
...However you could boost your score at a car show, motoring festival, rally, or a museum like the National Motor Museum in Hampshire, the British Road Transport Museum in Coventry or the Cars of the Stars Museum in Cumbria
So its absolutely fine :)

The ultimate prize is of course an order of merit certificate for 1000 points and the title of Second Class Classic Car Spotter. First Class was only awarded for completion of the full book!

In days gone by this required a sworn statement from a person of substantial standing to verify that the points claimed were genuine.

That last picture brings back a lot of smelly memories Neil.. Hated them then as I hate all car fresheners now...

No photo sadly as I was driving, but today spotted a W plate Volvo 343GL on the road between MK and Newport Pagnell. Pale metallic green and looked absolutely mint. Been an age since I last saw one, never mind a first gen example.

Would this be reasonably close?

The sticker in the back window is for "Twymans of Potters Bar" probably not in existence any more but as of 1984 it was claiming 60 years in Potters Bar and was selling Hyundai Pony's for £3,800.

.....well the Metro bank holiday special didn't produce any 500 pointers, so I think I am fairly safe offering 999 points for a Hyundai Pony.

Would you believe it there are only 40 currently taxed Pony's on the roads of the United Kingdom :!:

Some nice features :?:

That's the one, Niel. If not the exact car, it's got an identical twin.

I used to have a Volvo 340... Not a bad car actually but it did have some Achilles heels though

Not a car I know much about really beyond the 1.7 engine being shared with the Renault 21 (and the 11 I believe - if the 1.2 Renault 11TC I had was anything to go by, you'd have needed a pilot's license to go near a 1.7 version...).

Only knew one person with one, seem to recall it was scrapped when the rear spring hangers rotted off the body. Don't ever recall it having issues prior to that though, and even then it was 20 odd years old and had well over 150K on the clock. Don't think it ever saw a service beyond the initial warranty period...
