Re: Xantias disappearing?
I saw a Turbo CT estate this morning, and there's a red Hdi round the corner, but they are getting rare now, BX's were once everywhere too, now if I drive mine and stop at a fuel station people come and talk to you.
One day there will be none....sadly they are still worth nothing.

Re: Xantias disappearing?
I regularly see round here, a maroon S1, silver S2, green S2 HDi - all estates. Until last year, a friend and neighbour had a tidy HDi estate in Mauritius Blue; written off by a stupid girl not giving way on a roundabout - late for her hairdressing appointment apparently!
Saw a green 2.5 XM estate not long ago. Tidy, but obviously someone's regular transport.
I'm sure a lot of decent Xantias get scrapped because so few garages know anything about Xantia hydraulics and believe that they're complicated (computer can't tell them what's wrong).

Re: Xantias disappearing?
Definitely "garages think they are complicated" and more and more don't want "messy" work. 20 odd years ago a friend was quoted silly money from a garage to sort out the suspension on his BX, I think the estimate was about 3 times the "value" of the car. In the end I think it cost about £18 to fix. The future survival of any Xantias, and indeed C5s will become the responsibility of mad old DIYers.

They will not survive (the C5's), there will be no parts for them in 5/10 years and they will all be gone.

Rot seems to be a problem, I've had to have both sills welded on two of mine, which surprised me, although both have done over 100k, thankfully I know a man who can who will do them for sensible money, or they would have been scrap fodder,

Re: Xantias disappearing?
Citroen GS and GSA got to less than 100 on the roads before they stopped decreasing in number and they're still not really worth much, they're much more quirky than Xantias.van ordinaire wrote:Zantias are going through that phase, old, unloved (& nowadays, to complex to become bangers) while awaiting classic status to be bestowed upon them that all cars (except the very few that are classics while still in production) - especially French ones - go through.
Good time to buy.
I remember when I bought my first Xantia in 2008, there were pages and pages on eBay and on Autotrader. When I bought my second in 2012, there were significantly less for sale. Ended up travelling to the other side of the country to get mine, whereas in 2008 I had a choice of at least a dozen within 40 miles!

Re: Xantias disappearing?
There's a silver saloon W reg at the airport .. I pass it every day on the way to and from work..its been sat there front high in the air for the past 18 months.. I've left my email address with the office for the owner as he's not often there.. shame it would have been a good project but now I think it would only be spares. Then there's our work one 3 miles a week W reg estate on;y 36,000 miles.. I'm keeping an eye on that one.. but it seems they dont want to replace it quite yet
Apart from ecohouse I know of no others anywhere about.

Re: Xantias disappearing?
Couple of Xant's around my area botting around that I know of, There is mine ofc which is a white R reg estate 1.9 TD desire with yellow headlights white wheel trims and de badged (usually belching out smoke as it's being tuned and is half finished running 20psi boost), A dark blue estate of the same vintage ... totally stock and used daily and one very special old girl that I see less often that is a saloon in gold that looks lovely and pristine (most likely garage kept all it's life) but I want it haha!

Re: Xantias disappearing?
There's none left in the Glasgow area, apart from David's Activa V6 I think I've seen only one other Xantia on the roads in the last year since I bought my V6...and that was only a fairly pedestrian looking HDi.

Re: Xantias disappearing?
No sooner had I posted about twin headlights than, quite my chance I came accross a picture of an American Xantia - so I was wrong on both counts!
As for Paris, there must be more (original) Twingos than all other cars of similar vintage put together. Curiously, it's equally true in Berlin: clearly the budget (thinking person's?) alternative to the Smart car. Don't remember it being introduced as, or even intended to be, a city car.

Re: Xantias disappearing?
I've got a set of Morettes for a xantia (mk1 i believe) in the shed. Had'em for years ... guessing they're quite a rarity these days?
