I've opted for the upgrade programme, I'm expecting the update in the next week or so to be applied ... I decided to test it out, since I need to do a clean install of my Win 7 anyway, and I'll take this opportunity to test out the 10 ... if it will work, I'll keep it, if it won't, back to the good ol 7 ...

Planning to after I have done a full image backup of my 8.1 system to NAS overnight just in case in case.

Looks very promising (unless you have special needs like Lexia or legacy software), and when my Windows phone gets it the laptop and phone will play nicely together. I also have office 365 home, the version where you get 5 users, 2 devices each and 1TB of onedrive storage each all for £80 a year. If you have Win 7 or 8.1, 10 is free to download for a year from today. What's not to like. We have apple and Microsoft in the house, MS has caught apple and may even have overtaken it with this.

Lots about it here, scroll down and there are posts from people installing it (but its sometimes a bit of a complainy mutual hatred kind of forum so pinch of salt needed sometimes)

http://www.windowscentral.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As it rolls out worldwide, Microsoft have arranged content delivery at 40 Terrabytes per second - so if the internet seems a bit dozy this week it might be all the Windows 10 traffic whizzing about.

My Northwood P4 2800 shows as not compatible, why not? I know its old but it runs Win7 just fine. I'll just stick with it until win7 reaches eos 2020.

Done it on PC and laptop, only thing that stopped working was the scroll bar on the laptop touch panel, otherwise seems not much different apart from layout and menus.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Have installed it on a desktop PC and upgraded my Win 8 laptop to it. (which dual boots with Linux). It is kinda tempting me back to Windows from Linux too.

@Mike, that's probably a good thing, it seems slower than Windows 7 on my 1st gen Core i7, but Win7 was starting to crawl a bit on it too, might try a fresh install at some point.

If you're using Microsoft Money, any year, it seems it won't work with Win 10, there's quite a hullabaloo on the Money Forums about it.

I detest win. 8.1 with an almost insane hatred. Just can't get used to it. It was obviously designed with touch screen in mind. Anytime I try to do something at the bottom of the screen, up pops the bloody taskbar to cover it. Over to the left of the screen and out pops the settings etc. Driving me nuts. No start button? Was that a great idea? Stuff that was one click on Win 7, seems to be two clicks on 8.1.
I have mine set to be more or less like win 7, but the "Hidden taskbar"(it has just done it as I'm typing this Grrr) is slowly driving me to drink.
Interesting to read that the win8 designer was sacked within a few months of it's launch.
Has win. 10 brought back the start button? Is it in my interests to install it. Is it available now? Microsoft don't tell me anything. #-o :x

Just tried and apparently I need to do a windows update to load a particular file. I tried to do that and it didn't work. The windows trouble-shooter reports that I have to wait a few hours ad try again as "Get the windows app" is not up to date.
There would seem to be quite a few Ineligible for the upgrade, (administrator run, business machines, windows 8RT etc), but mine isn't one on the list .
Bad start. :?

Mine loaded itself last night. No problems or incompatibilities so far and it does seem faster so the jury is still out here.
