Small scrape/dent on drivers side. The bumpers are seriously faded, so I will have to think about renovating stuff, or paint them. I'm a bit worried about the tyres. 3 are Falkens with a date code of 1602 the fourth is a Michelin mxt of unknown date and the spare is a nearly done Michelin. All tyres on the car about 1/2 worn, the Michelin looks as if it's perishing around the sidewalls, the Falkens look not too bad. I think it will get a wheel/tyre swap before long. It looks as if the 13's are too small it could get 14 or 15" wheels, either genuine pug 205 wheels or steels with pug trims.

I've taken the chance as it's a nice day to give both cars a good look over.
The Renault. I knew when I bought it that there is a clonking from the front drivers side. It sounds like a ball joint, or a drop link, but on inspection it is a broken spring. The other side is fine, so it will only get one. I can't see anything else that needs attention, discs and pads are very recent, it was last serviced at 87k, it is now 92k and the oil is still clean enough so no need for a change of oil yet. It is due mot in October so apart from the spring then nothing really on the to do list.
The 205. Here's the mileage for the last 4 mots. 12 09 2011 60821, 21 09 2012 61322, 25 09 2013 61790, 10 09 2014 62298. When bought approx 62400. Very little use over the last few years, I have no idea when anything was last changed. When I picked it up it was quiet, by the time I got home there was a bearing kind of noise coming on and off the power, I thought it was possibly clutch release bearing. However it has got noiser and noiser as it has been used. It's not the clutch, it's the driver's side front wheel bearing. It also needs the passenger side drive shaft inner boot. I am also going to fit lowering springs to the front, it sits so high it is unbelievable. The rear is ok. I'm very happy to report tapping all along the sills, floor, boot floor all there is is a reassuring thump where metal meet metal and no rusty holes. The underseal is as it left the factory 20 years ago. The only rust underneath is the front subfamily, cosmetic only, and the spare wheel carrier, cosmetic only. Not a lot to do to any of them then, the only pity is that the mots are so close together.

I'll get the hub off and give it to a garage to press it out and a new one in. And the drive shaft out the other side to do the boot. Does the inner one manage to slip on without taking off the cv joint?

Yuu know it's totally right and proper for the front to seem high... There's a lot of travel in the suspension to give the legendary comfort the 205 is famed for.

I dunno about lowering springs really. They will just make the ride harder. I think a set of 14" wheels will make a better difference. As it happens I do know of a set of genuine peugeot 205 gti 14" alloys going spare as they are to be replaced with 15's from a 1.9 lol

They need tyres, which is one of the reasons shaun bought 1.9 ones. I may put on 175/65 instead ot the 185/60 the gti uses. I think that would be wide enough for a 1.1
