I've only just seen this thread to hear the news.

It's difficult to add anything particular to the tributes already posted (particularly considering some posted by many who knew him so well) other than to join in saying that this really is very sad news and true loss to all of the many people he touched over the years - it's obvious to anyone that his reach certainly was far and wide.

I think the idea of having the DS restored in his honour is fabulous. I'm sure it would make a really great Classic Car Rescue and Fuzz would do the car proud, if that were to be the option that worked out.

When the time comes, if there is assistance needed with the workshop etc. I'd be pleased to offer my services if they can be of use.

I am not a regular to this forum, however I knew him as he was so helpful on my threads.
RIP Malcolm, we've lost a hero.

Despite an earlier statement I'm hoping to be able to attend the funeral after all...

It depends at the moment if I can get some 'recovery' leave either side of next Wednesday. If I can then game on.

I most certainly hope it can all work out...

A quick look at the maps suggests 10 - 15 miles from Bodiam Castle to the Cemetery, so that if we make sure to leave no later than 13:30 we should be OK.

I'm further planning to get the M1, M25 and whatever other hideous lengths of tarmac I have to face over very early and spend a bit of time in the morning on a nearby beach soaking up a bit of salty air - something I've not had the pleasure of yet this year...

Any suggestions for an excellent beach/seaside in the are? I know the area not at all.

Well, Hastings is by the sea, and when I first went to see Malcolm it was only about a half hour walk from his workshop. I shall bring a couple of towels, as I fancy letting my feet feel the sand and salt water again.

Not much sand on Hastings beach chaps :), pebbles, take a inspection mat to sit on and don't wear your high heals

Jim, keep off a A21/Tonbridge-T.Wells area till after 10am, always bad over the hill to the roundabout and I think there are still works there.
