1,6HDI coolant specs

I went to my local stealers for coolant and was sold 3L of 9735KA which is a blue colour which contradicts the previous parts person's advice to only use the orange stuff.

Not surprising really as any random google search comes up with a myriad of conflicting information.

Aside from still not knowing which type I should be using (the handbook says to use Citroen network recommended coolant - see above contradiction!) I don't know whether I should dilute it with deoinised water. Again, the bottle label says "follow manufacturers recommendations"

And as my car is currently sporting orange coolant (presumably from the factory), I need to be careful in trying to flush out all traces of the old coolant before adding the new - what chance?

UPDATE: Haynes states GLYSANTIN G33 is the right type - which is what I've been sold. Another site states 1:1 mix for down to -38c and 2:1 for down to -18c

The colour is not that important - although blue is usually used for the older boro-silicate type. Modern long life OAT types are generally orange / red colour. As long as you have a long life OAT type it will be compatible with what's in there - there is a risk that if the old and new types are mixed they can gel. I've just used long life stuff from my local factors in both of mine.

PS I wouldn't worry too much about de-ionised water, unless you live somewhere with lumps in the water

I don't know if what I was sold is long-life or not but suspect it is. The lack of definitive information is concerning though.
I will use de-ionised, our tap water is hard as nails.

I would like to point out, ALL water is "hard" within the UK, just by varying degrees.....
De-ionized is a good choice as you remove the alkaline aspect as well./

Mines soft, doesn't even register on the hardness scale.
Its very nice too.

Water here is soft too, never ever have to descale anything.
Boiling will generally precipitate any calcium though.
