In a stupid move yesterday i managed to snap the metal strap thats soldered to the board and runsthrough and across to the battery (the silver part between the black plastic in this picture http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/121550421717?_mwBanner=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )
Anyone know if theres spares available? The connection of mine had always been a bit dodgy and when trying to flatten it down to make contact it snapped clean at the bend that leads to the soldered part
Or any ideas on how to fix it?

The idea which immediately springs to mind to me is to get a few different cheap battery holders for the relevant type of cell and see whether bits can be transplanted.
Alternatively there's probably enough space in a Xantia fob to have the battery in a slimline holder that's not actually fastened to the board, just solder the wires to the necessary pads and stuff some padding in there to make sure it doesn't rattle around.
Failing that, the car-relevant bit is built into the case, so you could just get a good used PCB and slot that into your case and reprogram the car to accept that transmitter.
...I still need to get around to tracking down why my car won't "talk" to my remotes as they both transmit data...

Whoops, meant IR not RF. The old IR ones take up pretty much all of the fob, the pcb is shaped to the exact shape of the casing!
Managed to bodge it with some careful soldering for now (god help i needed a finer point in the iron) but thanks for the tip on the battery boxes themselves. Might have to see if i can find any suitable!

in case you don't know, to check if the IR is transmitting, point it at a mobile phone set to camera, and if its good you will see the led firing........however it wont tell you the code......(works with TV remotes also)
