Lifted from another forum re the news that TVR are going back into production;

TVR return delights hedge menders...

News that TVR is to return has been met with delight by the National Union Of Hedge Menders.
‘We hedge menders have been through some difficult times,’ admitted trade union rep Trey Deyewnion-Repp. ‘The phasing out of cross ply tyres, the disappearance of the old VW Beetle, various improvements to the Porsche 911, but nothing hurt our business like TVR going away.’

‘So naturally, we’re really pleased to hear the company is coming back,’ Mr Deyewnion-Repp continued. ‘And I think I speak for all our members when I say we can’t wait to once more turn up at a car-sized repair job to find some floppy-haired, pink-shirted city clit in boating shoes staggering about on a pile of plastic shards muttering, “Oh bloody hell, I’d only just got her bloody working properly, and now I’m going to be bloody late for Tris and Arabella’s wedding”.
The hedge menders’ union isn’t the only organization to have reacted strongly to TVR’s comeback. ‘Jesus Christ, we’d better start recruiting,’ said a spokesman for the AA."

LOL....thank god PSA kept the Peugeot 306 going or all would of been lost.

I was very sceptical about this when I first heard, because the most recent plans under smolensky (or whatever his name is) have all been about something designed and built somewhere cheap like China.

However... It seems the brand (that's all it is now) has been bought by a partnership including Gordon Murray. He'll be the lead designer and the engine is being developed and built by Cosworth, so actually... This could well be a decent car, worthy of wearing the badge, rather than generic car that has no business wearing it.

TVR'r always were just expensive kit cars and I thought they had joined the long list of bankrupt resin rockets in the big red plastic recycling skip.

Forgetting all the main headlines around it, this is what has impressed me most, however...
Our stock of original parts comprises a mix of what was left in the stores after the Blackpool factory closed, together with stock from OEMs that originally supplied products for the old cars. Where such parts no longer exist, TVR has opened its archives and authorised the use of its extensive library of technical drawings to facilitate the remanufacture of replacement parts guaranteed to match, or exceed, the performance defined by the original specifications.
TVR Parts is fully licensed by TVR as the exclusive supplier of TVR Genuine Parts worldwide. In addition, we have granted TVR Parts access to our own archives including the factory’s comprehensive databases of models and part numbers going back decades, so ensuring a solid knowledge base and future support for the TVR community.
Now THAT is how to re-launch a marque and re-engage your fan base.

*sigh*

If only a certain other manufacturer would do likewise :evil:

So people could ride in a restored Dee or a GS and realise their current vehicle wasn't worth a crumpet in comparative levels of comfort?

LOL addo....it comes to something when the older cars are more comfortable than the new ones :)......but that's what happens when all the masses want is the remnant of a car that once drove around the N'brg Ring on rubber bands and has Bluetooth Phone Connectivity.
