Anyone with experience of these books? Better or worse than HBOL! R

I have the BX edition and the Xantia one. Both are very good with first class descriptions of jobs. Illustrations not so good since they are only pen sketches. No photographs at all. Don't know if they have improved later editions, but the bindings are terrible. My Xantia copy is almost a pile of single sheets.

Hi Robin, how are you? I have the BX manual and it is an engineers book, clear diagrams, good detailed decriptions with fits, limits and clearances. If you would like to borrow the book please E-mail me.

Hi, I have a Russek for the Peugeot 205, I owned some years ago and this with the Haynes manual proved useful. However the 205 is so much simpler a beast than a Cit and the XM I now own.
The Haynes manuals are good and yet the pictures and descriptions relating to engines lifted from their respective bodies 'for clarity' must have led to some very frustrating and aborted endeavours. Hence in my mind they are a book of lies.

I have a few of these - the line drawings are better than the lousy pictures in Haynes, and they cram a lot into a small space. On the downside, the binding is none too good, and pages tend to fall out.
Best manuals of the lot are 'Revue Technique', but you need a bit of technical French.

Mike is right. Even if you don't use French daily, the Revue is the book to have. Back that up with a Russek (Which will fit the confines of a BX glovebox) and you have enough to keep your car going.

My copy deals with hydractive in the hydraulic chapter, but only up to 1998 build.

For Xantia + Hdi :
There's a Peter Ruusek for the Xantia and also the HDi manual based on the Citroen relay van.
I've got it - very useful.
