Crash Cut-Off switch bypassed

Unread post by Stickyfinger »

Hi

Today whilst inspecting some wires and making good, I was tracing a line and noticed that the crash cut-out switch had been bypassed....
I have a spare in the scrapper V6, but before I mess with it, ? what would the reason be for this ? (if the switch is not broken, I do not know how to test it)

Most likely nuisance tripping. We had that in one of our cars years ago (think it was one of the Fiestas), where it would trip if you hit a moderately large pothole with the offside front wheel. Assuming the Xantia's one is similar? Big red button that pops up when it trips and can be reset by pressing the button back in?

If so most likely has been bypassed because it's playing up. Really bad idea though for obvious reasons!

Yes. Exactly that. Had it in a Ford Orion years ago and bypassed the switch myself.
