Well I keep at it even on sunny days :), I finally got to doing some investigation work on the V6Activa rear leak.
The whole underside rear was covered with sticky old LHM and lots of new stuff as well...
I just hit it with gunk, scrubbed with a soft brush and washed, applied again, left it then washed it down again then left to air dry.

This is the situation....as we can see the French do not seem to know about Jim and his conversions/re-seals..:)
Image

Note, you can see the only area of corrosion on the car...THAT will be treated...it is however just surface stuff and a few lakes of old paint ...good wire brush and some converter will deal with that.

?? LHM removes under-seal ??

As part of my "stores shelf"...I attacked the large Bendex calipers from the Green Goblin V6 hulk.
New Discs/Pads will be fitted to the Activa (there is a vibration when braking hard) as the nearside disc is not running true so I will be replacing it all round front and back...rebuilt calipers and new 288mm pancakes fitted with Mintex pads, new armoured caliper supply pipes, pads.
YUK....15 years of crap and a wire bush spitting sharp pins at me for a couple of hours!
Image

So, should I paint them Chavbaru Yellow, wish I had a Porsche Red or a nice clean Dark Silver :?: :0

Why not paint them yellow and red, with a touch of blue, so as to match the colours of Somersets' county flag?;

Dark silver. Anything else looks like it came out of Halfords.

well you got the Rampant Lion part correct but Tartan would be my choice if I could work out how to paint it ....I live here as an undercover agent for Alex the Red of Scotland :)

So true...so true

I may "do a creative" thing to them however..

..maybe simulate cast magnesium steel using one of my Iawta artists Air Brushes, with shadowed in Citroen chevrons to simulate indented markings in the casting. I could do that with a few shades mixed from standard base (silver/blue/black/white) applied thin over a good solid matt black caliper paint.

BUT,,,deffo no Yellow/Red/Blue with a mile of it :)

I took a picture of DickieG's Mercedes SLS F1 rims and brakes the other week. They really are the dogs danglies in terms of looks, and I expect performance. I'll post a link to it when I get home. All brakes should look like that.

It's a work of art. I think they are 20" rims. The discs are bigger than my wheels.

It's got pretty high-profile tyres on for what it is. I expected rubber bands but it's got rather tyres!

My self mixed cleaning solution seems to work well, this one (right) was dug out of the bowels of the Goblin

Three stage process...no abrasive or wire brushes used.
No 1, Gunks wash and brake cleaner
No 2 Stickys Special Mix
No 3, wash with window cleaner with touch ammonia in it, wash with water and dry....
