I don't think they would work as they would still allow slippage unless you roughed the surfaces up and used some liquid metal in there to help lock the surfaces up.

To be honest I can't see why the V6 one couldn't be welded if the strut was fully extended and lhm pumped through it it keep it cool and the welding was done in short stints, or friction welding maybe but still relies on heat...

Then how do 4x4 guys use them if they do that ?....good cooling idea however

Not much to lose by trying one. If it slips then it could be tacked to the strut with a relatively light weld.
