Central lock Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI year 2001

Post by Peter from Denmark »

Hi
Can anyone tell me if the control unit for the central lock system is integrated in the BSI unit on my Peugeot 406 facelift (sedan) from 2001?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter - welcome!

2001 was on the change over to multiplex wiring, so it might be either. If you post up the last 8 digits of the VIN / Chassis number, then we can check.

Hi Richard
Thanks :-)

My VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I have searched above the glove compartment, as some has suggested on the internet, but there are no controllboxes to be found...

Regards :-)

Not multiplexed, no so BSI. Can't find a body computer as there is in the Xantia but it does point to a unit that's slid into the dash to left and below the steering wheel which it calls ACN control box or something that might be it (it has fuses on the front of it). What issues are you having?

Actually, although it's not fully multiplexed I think the unit is in fact the BSI.... it gives part number 6580 26, but it's not available anymore, and it didn't turn up any immediate hits on ebay....

Hi Richard
Does it look like this?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GENUINE-PEU ... 541acd9c2a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If it is this one that controls the central lock as well, then it at least has more than this functionality, if not some overall BSI unit for systems inside the "cabin" of the car...

My problem is that the remote for the lock repeatedly act as it has no more power on the battery, and I have changed 4 batteries in a week, so I want to mount a universal remote to the system...

Can you tell me which connector in the control box is for the central locking... And do you maybe have a electric diagram for the control unit and the locking system?

Regards
Peter

have you checked the solder joints on the PCB in the plip/fob,
i think you plip will be RFas are MK Xantias and not IR like the MK1 Xantia

Hi Citronut
Do you have a photo of the area you mean, as you have many abbreviations that I don't yet recognize ;-)

no photos but PCB = printed circuit board, so i mean the one in your plip = central locking remote/key fob,

also RF = radio frequency so a remote that transmits a radio signal to the car receiver,
rather than the earlier type which is IR =infra red which sends an infra red beam to a line of sight receiver in the car

Oki, thanks... ;-)

As far as I can se, there is only one box int his car wich also has a lot of the car's fuses attached... It would definitely be very helpfull if some nice fellow had a wire diagram for the car... :-)

Hi Peter, 2001 will have the high frequency remote like mine :))
I'm assuming yours isn't working?
Does the central locking work with the key in the door? if yes I would pull the key apart and check the batt and wires there first as Malcolm is suggesting i think.
Ive replace the rubber button (FOB) on mine.. it perished and I didn't want water and crud getting in

Hi Patrick
Yep, it has the high freq remote, the central locking is working, and I've changed 4 batteries in 1 week or so an it has worked a few times sporadic with each battery.. :-( rubber looks fine...

Hi Peter, if its flattening those batteries it sounds like you need a new key. I would study it well to make sure no corrosion anywhere and to check if the circuit board is in good shape, a new one can be coded for your car by someone who has PP2000 near you or possibly a good key shop. If you get a new one make sure so move the small black chip over too, that's critical for making the car start!

maybe the micro switch's on your plip circuit board are sticking so causing the battery to run flat
