A Fortituious Musical Discovery....
I've just made a great fortuitous discovery...
The original Windows 95 disk contained a song as a music demo... It was a song I enjoyed at the time and I got curious (as I do) as to what it was... It has been years since I'd heard it...
Google did the business and it's a song called 'Good Times' by Edie Brickell
I then found that if you leave Youtube alone at the end of one track it'll then play other tracks by the same artist..
She does some really quite lovely stuff, all completely new to me... A great little discovery
Isn't the Internet wonderful

This brought back some memories, we used to listen to Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars all the time. I believe Edie Brickell is married to Paul Simon, who's not bad either!

With the late Barry White. I remember him being asked what happened when his voice broke. He said something like "I was 14, went downstairs to the kitchen, said "Good Morning" to my Mother and frightened the life out of both of us!".Karate_Kid wrote:I've just made a great fortuitous discovery...

Indeed, absolutely brilliant... Still to this day the Carpenters remain a firm favourite in my world and I was devastated when Karen so tragically died... He voice is like liquid gold...Stickyfinger wrote:As yet ....in that style, none have ever bettered Carol Carpenter
One of my all-time favourite albums... I listen to it very regularly...

You've obviously led a pretty sheltered life musically, Edie is indeed wonderful but try this very little known gem from Irish American singer songwriter Danny O'Keefe, It might be a little 'heavy' in parts for you but one track was very well covered by Jackson Browne (The road) and one by Elvis really badly (good time Charlie)), a classic Jazz track (Storyville)is covered really well and the one about Babe Ruth is truly wonderful.
How it's not better known is a mystery to me, the musicians list is like a who's who of the great and good and Donny Hathaway plays electric piano on most of the tracks.
FCF enjoy!
