Live Near Roberstbridge East Sussex ?, need a pick up

Post by Stickyfinger »

Hi guys

For "Project Stictiva" I have purchased a pair of full car tilt ramps, about 5 meters long and raise the car about 1.5m. Drive up and they tilt to flat.

I am due to go to France in the next 14 days to pick up an Activa with a car/trailer sailing via Newhaven ....can anyone save me a 8 hour drive so I can pick them up on my return and load on the car/trailer.

You would need to keep them for about 10-14 days MAX, they can be stored out side and if you wish to use them naturally you can.

Anyone need some ramps for a few days ? and can store them ?

Cheers guys

Sticky, repost this in the FCF Couriers PLC thread for better visibility...

It's down in Malcolm's (Citronut's) neck of the woods...

Those ramps sound like the business... Any further details?

Could you use them for 10-12 days ? feel free if you think they would help...it certainly would me :)

When finished with them for the long term, I will be "renting" them out to FCF members only.

They are the dogs dangly bits, and I'd happily pick these up if I had something 5m long to carry them with. I'm due to go to see Citronut at some point, and I could do with getting under the Golf coupe to change the Haldex diff oil and filter, but alas, I have nothing so long and no roof rack to carry them on. I suspect they'd be too heavy for a roof rack :-(

I agree Mike, they really are the dogs...

Sadly they're bigger than my driveway!!!!

I'd have to regularly park one of my cars on them...

Nice egh ?....stole them on the Bay with a "snipe" of £215.....most go about the £450 mark and good standard ramps at £30.
Tilted about 2 meters :)

Would love to help as I live near enough, but I don't think they will fit in the back of either a C4 or an XM. Sorry!

i spoz they cant sit were they are till you come back,

firstly i dont have anything that would transport them, then i also have not got a secure yard at me workshop, the yard is open to the public, so if someone didnt pinch them for use, the scrap man will ave um away,

if they cant stay put till you can collect them, i do know a farmer in Robertbridge who lets space out in an open barn,

he lives on site to, he might also have the means to transport them to his place,

i would think he might make a charge if he can transport them,
unless he has a use for them whilst they are there

You are correct Malcolm, they need to be gone by Saturday 12.30...they should be fine on the rails, heavy side down and cross strapped.
Bet my MPG goes down the toilet !

They run a very high chance IMO of rogering your roof. Where's the saving then?

Borrow a boat trailer that normally carries a small skiff. That'll be your lightest safe transport.

I wonder what they weigh? Got to be 30 or 40kgs each min I'd have thought.. what's the load limit on a C5 Estate roof? Google can't decide whether it's 70s , 95 kgs or 100kgs.
