xantia little Lazy on the suspension side??

Unread post by Timmo »

Morning all,
The ol' wagons getting a little slower on the suspension side on starting lately, also when giving it some Citrobotics, i seem ti remember that they are not quite as quick as the BX is on the lever adjustment, but, would a lhm swap with hydraucinicage give it a little more Zest (for want of a better word!)???
last fluid change was a good few years back, reservoir was cleaned out, filter done and filled with genuine green juice, just been thinking about the hydraucinicage lately as we've had the car 4 years or so!
many thanks in advance,

Timmo.

How long has it been sat for before starting? Mine ranges anywhwere from 5 seconds for the stoplight to go out and to adjust to my weight, to about 30 if its been sat for a few days. Might be worth a flush as its possibly getting to the point where its discolouring now

not really timed it but usually 30 seconds ish, does generally sit unused for 2-3 days at a time though, doesn't sink right down though when left, normally drops to around tyre level with wheel arch height, accumulator was done around the same time as fluid,

An anti-sink Xantia is always quite slow to rise up as it only has a two piston pump on the suspension side, unlike the BX that had six of them..

That said, a Hydraflush and a clean of the filters in the LHM reservoir may well help...

Also, what's your regulator tick rate like? Is it well in excess 30 seconds?

Yea mine seems to hunker down after a few days. Sounds normal to me!

Tick rate on the accumulater is good, i timed it this morning from start up, used yesterday evening, 15 seconds till stop light out and 15 seconds from that to up, so 30 in total, will try and remember to do it later in the week when its not been used for a few days,

Another thing that can cause the suspension to be slow to rise or fall is a partially seized height corrector linkage - especially on the rear height corrector.

If the linkage can only move a small amount instead of over it's full range then the height will still be regulated but because the height corrector valve can only partially open each way the flow rate is severely restricted - thus it rises and falls slowly.

This was particularly a problem on my previous Xantia.
