They don't need much of an excuse to be complete imbeciles Davie

I pine for intelligent though-provoking television...

There's nowhere near enough of it but thankfully BBC4 compensate partially for this shortfall but even then it's not prolific and one has to choose most carefully :(

The program before Top Gear was very interesting. It was about the Cross Rail project, and the biggest potential headache they had was drilling the tunnel trough the Tottenham Court Road area. They had to aim the tunnel boring machine for a tiny gap (named "The Eye of the Needle"), where the top of the tunnel being drilled was 35cm below the Tottenham Court Road station escalators, while the bottom of the tunnel was 85cm above the Northern Line. The engineering was incredible.

I'm looking forward to watching that on the BBC I-player tonight James...

That kind of telly floats my boat as long as it's not too badly dumbed down...

I almost enjoyed the programmes about managing the M6 for the past couple of weeks.. Quite eye-opening...

I'd rather go to a proper gym

Our trains between the aforesaid places don't shake that much... The permanent way is very well maintained and if you're really lucky you can get a rail version of an Activa - the Pendolino..

Even the Class 350 commuter trains are not that bad... They have awesome acceleration and braking performances so they can play with the big Virgin trains on the fast tracks and still stop at a few stations without impeding progress...

I've seen hardened commuters I'm sure fast asleep whilst standing up...

Pre-dating the CrossRail project by more than a couple of years (!) is this lovely 1969 40 minute BBC documentary on 'How They Dug The Victoria Line'

....they did things a bit differently then
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

Thanks Bobins, I shall watch and enjoy that :-D Victorian engineering is a particular interest of my wider interest in industrial archaeology...

Sticky, I hate BO at any time, along with gum chewers and those who break wind without regard for those in the vicinity

Virtually all other human traits and habits I can tolerate bar those
