Open Call to all members...Suspension Bushes

Post by Stickyfinger »

I have a continuing search for rear C5/C6 rear Anti Roll Bar bushes OEM from Citroen...... to give you free bushes with a new bar @ £250 !....nope.....so

I have talked today to "A leading market supplier" of replacement bushes (happens to be local) and have arranged to go down with my car to start the process of getting a replacement set for the Anti Roll bars.

During the general chat, the fact that there are few companies doing anything other than OEM or crap replacements for the rest of the Citroen range came up :) So, after a good discussion on that, I said I would ask on the forum, ( please pass this on to the C6 forum someone ) about the wishes of the community

I am prepared to assist him to look at other components where alternative bushes my be suitable and discuss the suitability for other designs in the PSA group, C5 Mk1/2/X7, C6, Pugs, Xantia, Activa ect ect.

Some things that YOU can do that may help to get things started..I need info to start with and a few samples later for the special cases.

X7/C6
1. Has anybody got a X7/C6 rear roll bar that has been removed and still has the bushes (even if damaged)...??
...Has anybody go a set of Anti Roll bar brackets for the C5x7/C6....parts 3 + 10 in service 4221 01a

Other Cars
2. Please post/list what bushes YOU think would be good to see in a long lasting Polly material, either standard hardness or stiffer.
. When I have a list and can see some "pattern of need" I will collate this together and talk it thru with them and look at what ones could be made available .

Looks good, had a good chat with the guy but early days....so info/options needed, post please on anything/any design.

To state the obvious, front wishbone bushes for most models would no doubt be popular.

Well, there wouldn't be much of a take up on this one, but... Activa bushes (like the one CitroJim makes).

They are metal though, more a bearing bush hybrid.
Citroen xm wishbone bushes front and rear
Xantia wishbone bushes would be good, I had the devils own job of finding ones that were not utter rubbish when I was with active
All OEM compound would be my choice.

They will be polly, but with OEM stiffness I would think, not a big market for racing C5's and Rodded Xantia's...:)

If Xantia front bushes in standard firmness but poly rubber were available I'd try them next time I did mine. Same with the rear I suppose but I haven't done a set yet. Really any available bush in standard firmness but poly rather than rubber I would buy when I needed one.

I'd like to see the front bushes on a xantia wishbone in poly, nice and firm, I'm thinking it could help firm up the Activa......

Like dnsey said, but specifically: the rear bushes for the front lower wishbones on C5 X7/ C6/ 407. They are theoretically sold (non-oem) but invariably are the wrong size for the Citroen wishbones. Some engineery types on the C6 forum have made spacers to fit them, but a straightforward replacement would be very useful to a lot of cars. By 80K miles they've invariably failed, resulting in a characteristic knock on drive take-up. The wishbones are expensive from Citroen (I bought them last year..!) I have the two old wishbones ready to be refurbed with new bushes, if I can find them!

I'll have a look at the ARB bushes when I'm next under there.

As they are no longer available, how about a bush of some sort for the top engine mount of the V6 Xantia?

I don't have an image; I just remembered reading that post recently. However, I would be very surprised if CitroJim was unable to help in this score.
