c5 x7 gurus.. indicator .. SORTED!!

2008 2.0 16v hdi ... x7.

Issue: rear nearside indicator has stopped working.. its NOT the bulb.. stop and tail work.. just nothing on the nearside indicator line at the REAR only. Mirror indicator and front works..

any ideas for me to look at tomorrow please? Or am I gonna have to wire in a new feed to the rear??

WACK IT...really that is what mine did,..... a few sharp slaps and it came on.

After two weeks of doing this I gave up and I now have added a new earth wire (drilled and screwed) from the bulb mounting to the lamp cluster securing screw via a soldered on brass washer having removed a little paint on the inside. Tighten down the plastic securing nut onto the brass washer and not had a problem since.

It was worked out by someone that the earth is overloaded...apparently

No point.. theres NOTHING comming down the wire! Ive checked it .. pulled the boot trim out.. followed the cables to the back of the boot and nothing.. and a know its the correct ome because there continunity with 0 resistance..

is there a bsi reset. Apparently dad swapped the bulb.. it worked for 30 seconds and stopped.. just like that. I noticed a slightly mealted earth connection on the plug to the lamp..

Should of done it in the first place before starting to remove trim.. anyway..

easy fix.. I disconnected the battery!!

This must have reset the bsi and all the ecus.. I also added a soldered earth to ring terminal.. to aid the poor earth connection on the plug..

normal service has resumed..

cool, it took a couple of mins but the extra earth seems logical when you work out the voltages into the single group earth....doing my other side tomorrow
