identify this C5 X7 wheel please

Unread post by SaabC5 »

As the title says, can anybody identify this wheel on this X7 C5, is it OE or aftermarket cos its damn sexy. I'm familiar with the VTR + snowflake design and the Exclusive wheel but haven't seen this one before. Image

Black ones are cheaper, it was 8-900€ / set I think. But they´re 19" so think twice before you buy them...

Got those on mine, they were available as an extra cost option from new, Citroen call the design "Adriatic", there are a number of different variations colour wise, silver, charcoal or black. Nice and easy design to clean with room to get your hand inside to clean the inner rim.

There's a set for sale on eBay ATM for £900 complete with tyres and pressure sensors.

Not ones I like either as they ,to me, don't complement the shape of the car, then again wheels are often very personal.. 6-1 of half a dozen-2-one ?

I don't know what's the big deal in the tire prices, when I was looking for my new ones (Uniroyal), I've compared, out of curiosity, my 17" and the 19" alloy sizes ... the 19" tires were approx. 17 GBP more expensive than the 17" (per tire) ... same tire model (speed class), regular price ... maybe some other manufacturer/models have different prices than this one example

It's one of the things I take into account when choosing a car. Tyres are priced by popularity not size as far as I can see. 13 and 14 inch are extortionate. 15 and 16 seem to be most reasonably priced then over that they turn to big money.

You're having a giraffe.... TWELVE HUNDRED quid for a set of wheels FFS!!!!

Mine's got wheels apparently - they're the things it came with and support the tyres. Mind you, I couldn't care less - I fitted the spare on mine - took me about 4 weeks to realise it was a different pattern to the others :-D (and not just a bit different - it is a 5 spoke rather than the 6 spokes that are fitted!).

What AutoCar said

Code: Select all

The Hydractive 3+ suspension still defines the Citroën’s character and ensures a relaxing drive, although the 19-inch alloys fitted as an option to our test car noticeably compromised the otherwise supple, loping ride.

And this is a very good ref site

How sensitive is the C5 to wheel size? I sometimes see 16" wheels that would look nice on the Xantia but it always came with 14" and 15" so I never dared to try them.

I have 19" Adriatics on my Exclusive and I think they look great.
Tyre prices of a decent quality are horrendous though.

Sorry, but black alloys are for boy racers in my humble opinion.

however, and I hate to defend them :), black paint on their wheels, but the correct size maybe ?........ where as you have a wheel/tyre combo that compromises your cars handling for the sake of looks as well ? ...............err, ? pot kettle black calling :)

Not sure I understand that. Are you saying my 19" wheels compromise the handling? I think a big car deserves big wheels but maybe I'm not understanding. I didn't buy the car for the look of the wheels, but in my opinion they suit the car and they don't detract from the handling at all. I've driven for 46 years now and the C5 handles pretty well with the big wheels and low profiles. At least as well as my Jag and Saab. The downside of course, is that the ride is somewhat compromised. As a lot of my mileage is now motorway, the slightly harder ride isn't a problem.

Yes,.......... I am saying that the ride given, in both comfort and grip, is compromised by the fitting of 19inch wheels and tires of the same spec.
Your choice or not, they do that only for the sake of looks and the modern style. In the same vane, I would not fit low profile tires to a Stag nor would I fit V-Wide tires to a Landrover (with a few off road exceptions)
