saxo gearbox oil

does anyone know if it is essential to only use synthetic oil in the gearbox of a saxo?the reason i ask is that i read in "car mechanics" that they had come across some intances of saxo gearbox failures because of owners using mineral gear oil.

Seeing as you change the gearbox oil every 50,000 miles or so, you might as well use the proper stuff. It's a tiny, tiny price to pay for the extra protection and peace of mind.

Citroen's handbook recomend 75-80W transmission oil to GL 5.
