But before anyone rushes out and buys one take a testdrive up Vale Street in Bristol like Watchdog did tonight

Image

The Fiat 500 has problems going up hills with lack of power under 2000 revs. Even with a former top gear "Stig" behind the wheel it just couldn't get up the hill.

Yes but could a C1? Anyone tried it?

The one with the plate 289 FHT shows how useful it is as a car to date in, or it would have been back in the day.

Although one would have to carry an adjustable pole for the reason explained in the next paragraph.

When pointed at the girlfriends bedroom window, lift up bonnet to the required angle, and turn the lights on briefly, just a quick flash  saving the need to throw stones up at said window, now they can't always be found when you need them, and picking apart the girlfriends fathers pebble dashing might not go down too well when clear patches are noticed.

Note I am not speaking from experience, and have not owned one, or been through the scenario explained above, just pointing out that compared to the Triumph Herald lights that point down when the bonnet is opened, that the Frog Eye bonnet has other useful uses.

Note this is something that can also be done with the BMW Mini.  8-)

Are car chases in older cars just more interesting. Both the Mk1 Escort , and the Rover (3500 V8?} look a bit "spongy" when cornering at speed :)

Well I for one find this image intriguing. A definite bit of two-tone-age with the van ( a Car Cruiser Carousel circa 1962 ish), and a minor bit of 2-tone with the fair-sized Vauxhall Victor PB Estate alongside. Powered by a 1.6-litre 58.5bhp engine, its top speed was quoted as 78mph, and it took some 22.2 seconds to reach 60mph from a standing start.

Image

May bring back some memories for some

Regards Neil

A nice bit of co-ordination between Van and Car from Jean Luc DelVaux, with the Med as a backdrop is also a nice image in my eyes

Having taken caravan holidays since was knee-high to a grasshopper those certainly bring back memories.. Parents had a static 'van on the edge of a touring park so I grew up studying tourers.

I could spot them like other kids spotted cars...

The car in the cartoon is one of these-a Simca Vedette Versailles. According to wiki the Versailles was the mid-level trim with the next step up being known as the Regence.

Bit off topic seeing as its a one tone, but it is a nice matching trailer combo...

Better rescue the integrity of the thread with this Nash Metropolitan combination :)
