C5 S1 dash back light settings

hi all,
My C5 used to have 3 dash light settings, I think accessed by a press of right hand button in instrument pod, and also by pressing the half white/black button near the stereo.

setting :
1 # all dash lights on,
2 # just dials back-light
3 # just the speedo

3# is no longer accessible ?
Its quite handy for making people go quiet in the car, like turning the lights off

I do have a handbook but cant put hand on it right now..

Never had that on mine. Little push button in instrument binnacle controls brightness. One on left of radio is the night-time panel which turns everything off except the speedo.

My Mk 1 had that button, but I'm pretty sure there were only two settings - normal lighting or speedo only.

Did you get that lights off trick from me?

I love to sneak up totally unlit beside another car on the motorway during the small hours. Then suddenly turn everything back on!

Yes i want the speedo on only but no longer get it ..just a half measure. . Will.put it down to comms lol

Can't see anything to change in the BSI? Wheeler or Gibbo (the Wirral one) might be the go-to people.

hmm...

just seems odd.. its like I have always had the three options of lighting, and the final one (speedo only) has gone missing..
My memory is bad though, maybe I only ever had 2, either all lights or just speedo.. either way, I now get all lights, or all the dials only (not the display screen, radio, centre console)

If you turn off the auxiliary lights with the 'black / white' switch, then turn down the dimmer on the instrument panel, doesn't that leave you with just the speedo?
