An excellent run down to Somerset in the V6 yesterday :-D Makes me realise just how much I love the V6 engine.

It's surely going a lot better with the new exhaust fitted and it's lovely and quiet too...

On the journey I had plenty of time to to think of my New Year resolutions.

I've made two..

One is connected with the first paragraph of this post. I'm going to V6 my Activa. I may already have a donor for the engine and ancillaries.

I'm now on the look-out for a manual box, flywheel and clutch.

The second is that I'm going to do something I've been wanting to do and procrastinating about for almost 20 years...

I'm going to get a tattoo.

I know what I'm having and where and it is not a set of double chevrons! It is not in the slightest automotive related...

I will say it'll be on my upper right arm but no more than that until it is done...

At this rate I think I'll be the last person left with a tct engine fitted in my activa!!

At least spares will be cheap lol

Oh I don't know Will, there's still relatively few V6 Activas in the UK...

Although, given the general rate of attrition I guess the ratio of V6 to TCT is not that high now...

The Activa V6 will be well worth it, Jim. You'll become a member of a fairly unique club! :D

I'm looking forward to joining the club proper David... I guess I'm only an associate member at present!

Are you planning to do this over a weekend Jim or a few weeks during the evenings? I'm guessing a good weekend to strip down the old car and engine out of the tct and then another for the implantation would be your normal kind of time frame.

While your at it I would take the chance to steam clean the engine bay, it will make putting stuff back in so much nicer when you see the engine bay afterwards and worth the hire of one for a day if you need to as you can then do the same to the block and box that you'll be fitting :)
Are you revealing the v6 pump and refurbing the alternator before they go in so as to enjoy it for longer without worry of having to delve back into it again?

No, it's not going to be a quick job Will, in fact, one way and another I expect it to take the biggest part of 2015...

Everything will be carefully refurbished and made pristine...

For the bulk I expect I'll take a couple of week off work in early summer perhaps...

It's what the activa has been waiting for Jim and as you say the V6 engine is a belter.

Thanks Mike :-D

That's just about all I'd need if my schoolboy French has allowed me to understand what's on offer...

Shame it's in France... :(

Hopefully what I need can be found upon these shores....

Jim, have just emailed you a link to a genuine 3 piece clutch on eBay that's a bit of a bargain, so be quick!

Gearbox - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-406-3 ... 3ce7b390ed" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There's no flywheels on eBay at the moment but they do come up occasionally. The other thing to do is look on the 406 Coupe forum as their is a chap there that breaks them called Ade, he might be able to do you a deal on a gearbox and flywheel.

Another useful thing when searching eBay is to get part numbers from the Citroen and Peugeot parts catalogues online as a lot of the dealers clearing NOS will list them by part number as they'll not know what they're for!

David.

He's offering the motor, gearbox, cooling system and all wiring including the cabin harness and key plus basically everything else required and other bits you may want for a transplant.

Downside is, it looks to have been exposed without a bonnet for some while.

Thanks David, that's really very highly appreciated :-D

Clutch has now been bought :-D

I know Ade of Chesterfield of old... It's where I got hold of my very first spares 4HP20 all those years ago to use as a practice-piece and a source of spares for the first live HP20 I rebuilt... Been there a couple of times since for various bits and pieces of a V6 nature...

He's a good lad...

Adam, you're right, that French one does look a bit weathered :(

Jim... I've got a flywheel! It's on the spare engine I've got that came with my gearbox. It'll never be used. Have just emailed you about it as well... Yours for the cost of postage!
