Hi all,
My AX keeps smoking white even after driving 200mls with no breaks.
Things I have diagnosed so far:
- No coolant loss
- No oil loss
- No brake fluid loss
- all gaskets and vacuum hoses are in good condition.
- green temp sensor in the head reads 350 ohm when warm.
- spark plugs are glazed.

Re: AX keeps smoking white even when warm
Is it smoke or steam, does it smell oily or acidic?

Re: AX keeps smoking white even when warm
dose you brake fluid level go down at all, if so maybe the master cylinder is leaking into the servo, then the fluid gets sucked into the induction and sent out the exhaust

no. AX doesn't have hydraulic systemcitronut wrote:dose you brake fluid level go down at all, if so maybe the master cylinder is leaking into the servo, then the fluid gets sucked into the induction and sent out the exhaust

it has to have a hydraulic brake system you mean it has no servo assistancejsp wrote:no. Re: AX keeps smoking white even when warm
how can it use brake fluid while it isn't connected to the engine with only the vac line connected to it?citronut wrote:it has to have a hydraulic brake system you mean it has no servo assistancejsp wrote:no. Well. it doesn't use brake fluid

ok ok calm down only trying to helpjsp wrote: how can it use brake fluid while it isn't connected to the engine with only the vac line connected to it?
Well. it doesn't use brake fluid
if a car has a servo assisted braking system, and the master cylinder leaks brake fluid out of its rear end seal, this fluid can be sucked into the vacuum pipe then into the induction of the engine, it will then produce white smoke from the exhaust

I am calm but, seems not be the issue regarding brake fluid it's not lowering anywhere.citronut wrote:ok ok calm down only trying to helpjsp wrote: how can it use brake fluid while it isn't connected to the engine with only the vac line connected to it?

Does anyone know the green sensor how much ohm it is at warm? I measure 350 Ohm.

Re: AX keeps smoking white even when warm
Ok just tried a few things.
1. swapping spark plugs from BR6ES to BKR5EIX-11
2. changing the green temp. sensor.
Guess what still the same.......

Re: AX keeps smoking white even when warm
I did change the green temp. sensor and blue temp. sensor.
For my own peace of mind a compression test:
All cylinders at 11bar
Changed the Sparks from another club members car they only had 60 mls on it before he put the car on sorn.
Still smoking but, less with these sparks than with heat 6.
Is there any coolant channels in the intake manifold?

Re: AX keeps smoking white even when warm
I would still try to rule out a leaking brake booster - the leak could be small enough not to cause an obvious drop in the level but still cause smoke.jsp wrote:I am calm but, seems not be the issue regarding brake fluid it's not lowering anywhere.citronut wrote:ok ok calm down only trying to helpjsp wrote: how can it use brake fluid while it isn't connected to the engine with only the vac line connected to it?

Does it smoke immediately and continuously just when idling ? If so why don't you disconnect the large vacuum hose from the manifold to the brake booster and blank off the spigot on the manifold to see if it stops smoking ?
Maybe even take it for a slow careful trip around the block (no servo assistance on the brakes) to see whether the smoke clears ? (It might take a little running if the inside of the manifold is coated with the stuff)
You should be able to conclusively rule out (or implicate) a leaking brake booster from this relatively simple test. I wouldn't go just by no visible drop in fluid level especially when you can't find another cause for the problem...

Has been tried now nothing even unplugged it to have a look nothing:
I guess bathroom kit is a bad idea for making gaskets (not me previous owner):

found bathroom kit between the intake manifold . so water is entering through the intake manifold. fingers crossed.citronut wrote:can you clarify what you are saying?????
