Changing Citroen C4 rear shock absorbers

Post by c4tobe »

Hey fellas,

I am told that my C4 (hatch 2004) rear shock absorber is leaking.
Does any one know how can I refit change the rear shock absorbers on C4? is it a DIY job?
Do I need special tools? such as special wrench to screw the bolts to specific torque?

Thanks

Have a look at this guide on C4owners

It is really about fitting lowering springs, but the principle is the same.

You should of course change both sides. As in that thread, jack up and support the rear. I'd put a jack under the arm, just take the weight, then remove the bottom bolt. You should then be able to undo the top mount, and drop the damper out. Depending on what you buy, you may need to change over the top mount. Not sure on the C4 - you may need an E-spline socket to undo the top mount bolts.
