There was always this

and for those wanting to know a little more...
classicandsportscar

The origin of the 13-amp plug on wheels, the Raleigh Safety 7 was unusual for a thirties three-wheeler in that the single wheel was at the front, with two at the rear, thus giving more passenger space than the Morgan. The air cooled vee-twin engine drove through a three-speed and reverse 'box via shaft drive to the rear wheels, and these features, along with the interconnected brakes, underslung frame and single plate dry clutch, had nothing to do with a two-wheeler. It handled surprisingly well, 55mph was possible and motorcyclists were specifically warned not to be alarmed by the ticking of the electrical fuel pump. Genesis of the Reliant three wheeler.

Autocar and Motor have been stalwarts for the motoring enthusiast for many years, and here are a pair of old covers, both taken near Ashness Bridge in the Lake District with Derwentwater behind.

Another nice Image

Also more than qualified as an 8, with that V8 on display

the full car must look something like this

You could have a yellow one if you prefer

Well here's Regie's offering for an 8

I am sure Renault have a name for that colour...champignon ordinaire perhaps?

Image

There's got to be a good handfull of more interesting 8's than Regie's to consider

The Austin 8 was quite the cover star in Autocar, and there's plenty of other interesting images from adverts of the time. Here's another couple

I do like a random find......I would never have discovered this gem in technicolor no less of an Austin 8 in the English Lake District.

I love the Lake District, and the idea of tootling around over the highest passes by the beautiful lakes in an Austin 8 is something to be enjoyed. Bearing in mind the Fiat 500's "Watchdog" hill climbing difficulties in Bristol it would be good to recreate the same route followed by the little Austin 8 in 1939, and see how the Fiat 500 would cope :)

If you have 15 minutes.... hope you enjoy it.....it will be better than anything else on the telly tonight :!: (and the Mr Cholmondeley-Warner narration is just perfect!)

As they say in Italian Restaurants......enjoy :)

That's just simply wonderful Neil...

That little Austin 8 is a plucky little thing but it looks like it already needs new shock absorbers going on how bouncy it is.
