Before posting, I searched the forum and found several posts partially matching my symptoms – but, to my limited understanding of these matters, they did not seem to describe what my car has.
In short: Citroen Xantia 2000 2.0 16V 132 BHP petrol. During strong accelerations, the STOP light tends to ’flicker’ on. That is, it rapidly fades in and out, but is not fully illuminated. During normal driving there is nothing.
My first thought was some kind of liquid is low; and when it moves towards the back during acceleration, it registers as too low. But when driving uphill there is nothing (though admittedly, Denmark doesn't have anything really steep, we're a flat country.
Background info:
It was recently at the mechanic, because it idled unsteadily. The mechanic cleaned the engine inlet, where there is an air density sensor, and updated the computer engine control idling settings. Other than that, no changes have been done to the car in good while.
Often the AC can cause similar symptoms, but I do not have the AC on. I am aware the AC might be on when the windows are dried / defrosted, but I also get the STOP light when the AC is off and cabin air is directed towards my legs.
What are you gents thinking – in which direction should I look? Thank you very much,
