Well it's finally given up .......................

Unread post by KennyW »

All the problems I've recently had with the heating, the matrix has decided to start leaking.

Unfortunately it's coming into winter and having done one before its going to be cold, dark and a slog to get done.

The only good thing is I know whats coming :-D

Sorry to hear that Kenny :( Bad time of the year too

Try a bottle of Forte Stop Leak to hopefully postpone matters until more clement weather. ..

Don't use any other sort of sealer...

Yes, it works surprisingly well Mike. I'm really quite delighted with it, a real boon on a frosty morning :-D

I read this Kenny and had a look under the front passenger mat.. sure enough .. its sticky, wouldn't say wet just yet .. but I guess thats a sign its on its way out. I don't think its the scuttle as with all this rain I'm sure there would have been more in there... I'm going to try to get through the winter before replacing it... Not sure what timescale you've got for replacing yours, but if it could wait till the spring I'd be interested in getting together and maybe doing the 2 at once?

I would check the area under the bonnet where the air is drawn into the cabin. On my previous Xantia this got clogged by leaves, which blocked the drain, diverting the rain water into the cabin. Yuck! Got the leaves (and residue) out, and that sorted it out after I replaced the pollen filter and dried out the bits.

Well I've got a large garage, wide enough to have all doors open and plenty of space to walk around,.. with accomodation above and I think Kenny is working outside...
As for time.. well I've taken out the clocks and the radio/heater before .. but not gone beyond that.. so no idea.. but I guess its a 2 man job.
At least the matrix isn't too expensive.. you've got to positive about something :-)

Team WFA have done a two for one before now. It works well :-D

Allow yourselves the best part of a weekend for the job...

Start a thread so we can easily offer any advice needed

Lifting the dash out is best treated as a two - man job...
