I might consider selling my 2004 2.0l HDI C5 VTR hatchback now I've sorted all its nasty problems (turbo, head gasket, crankshaft) I bought a Toyota Avensis Estate to use while I fixed up the C5 and I 'm having trouble selling it on now I don't need it, I quite like it and am tempted to keep it instead of the Citroen.

Citroen's a nice tidy car in metallic silver, just about to roll over the 100k miles, had all the necessary stuff done, timing and aux belts, oils and filters, anti freeze etc. in the last few months. Everything works and no warning lights/messages showing. £1300 seems like a sensible price though it owes me considerably more.

Auto's will never give a good fuel consumption when driven gently because of the power absorbed by the torque converter and box - all that heat has to come from somewhere. With mixed driving it will be better.

During this thread we all I am sure have popped a good few "Citroen C5 For Sale" searches.........

Anybody else noticed the good prices clean cars are getting ?
C5 Estate prices seem to be strong from clean Mk1's up to Exclusive X7's

I wonder what will happen to X7 Exclusive prices when all the Hydro Suspended Mk1 & Mk1Facelifts have been "used up" in the £6-2k 2nd hand market and scrapped ?
They are already hard to find.

No. I've noticed the silly money being *asked* for them though....

A very clean C5 S1 V6 with only 60k on it went for only £620 on eBay. I paid rather less than that for my 02 plate 110HDi.. and only slightly more than that for an 04 plate 110HDi a couple of years ago. We all know Davie paid less than a grand for an 07 plater..

Yep, plenty of cheap ones about. I paid £300 for my first 2.2 mind you that's about all they are worth :wink: and £550 for my nice red 2.0. had a few problems at first but running faultlessly now.

If you want a real shock check out the cost of HDI vans. You'd be lucky to pick up much under 2 grand!

Think I counted my 07 plate at 950 that was including train travel down and fuel home. On to that needed 4 tyres, cost 160, handbrake cable and tube 40 ish, radius arm bearing and two track rod ends and mot 300. £1400 all in, still cheap for what it is and I think i would get that back for it all day long were I to sell it. That I actually am considering and replacing with a c3 or c4 petrol auto, but only a normal auto not another sensodrive piece of s**t.

I'm have been quite happy with my early ones, although if I had to replace it I would probably go for a facelift as the DPFs don't seem to cause to much trouble now.

|Well, as many of you know I had a "little incidence" with O5 plate 1.6VTR (120k) and the handbrake..Well without giving the exact payout figure it was higher than £1800, so they think they are worth more than a grand !

Dont know why you have a thing on the AL4 or the ZF hp20 .. they are simmilar boxs but not the same. They are both auto adaptives and both electronically controlled boxs except the AL4 is not a ZF box but I think a psa box...

both boxs are ticking time bombs at 100k plus if they are on original box oils and not been serviced.. but the valve block on the al4 is removable with the box in situ in the car while the zf box needs removing and a full strip down..

so in theroy they are as bad as each other.. perform the same .. do the same thing.. and live as long as each other..
