It looks so genuine too...

Is that address in Chingford a genuine one?

I wonder how many are going to be taken in by it...

It's new as all the spam identification services have not got wind of it yet. I've done my bit and reported it as spam..

I got something looking very much like spam yesterday.
On investigating on a sacrificial computer it was the receipt for the washing machine I bought recently

Oh dear! :-D

I'm getting a lot of advertising emails from Bilt Hamber (the rust proofing people) at the moment. They're so frequent they're almost spam...

I received one today along the lines of "We were unable to deliver your parcel". Binned without opening.

I get a lot of those along with email delivery failure.
Rarely see them as the spam filter catches them.

It's doing its job then :-D I see them all simply because I purposely look in my spam trap so that I can report them to the various authorities as spam messages to assist other spam filters in catching them...

With the standard of english displayed it really gives itself right away as being a fake...

I bet it's plausible enough to convince many though...

If it was genuinely from the bank in question and I had an account with them I soon wouldn't... Not with english as bad as that!

I notice now Christmas looms that spam is starting to change tack and is peddling seasonal stuff..

I must admit that watching spam is quite interesting... Time spent in my spam trap can be fascinating but other times tedious when you see over 100 identical spams in one day offering stock market tips....

You can also see the ebb and flow of spam. Peak time to receive it is normal working hours in Eastern Europe - that give a good clue as to where most of it originates... The level of spam sent during the evening, night and weekends is comparatively low.

I would love to see a concerted effort to expose the people who run these companies.

So would I... And then prosecute them to the furthest extent the law will permit.

That's too mild. I'd sit them in front of Microsoft Outlook and make them read their rubbish for a year, 24 hours a day

As they read one lot I'd just add another deluge...

No respite until all is read and the inbox is empty for good...

I've actually had a legitimate email from a bank that the English was terrible enough to think it was a scam but it wasn't. Once had a phishing email from "Halifax Bank of Scotland Plc" that the first line said "Dear Santander customer".
