The one on the HDi Xantia has no internal pump Will, it relies on the engine water pump for circulation...

Some do have pumps but not the Xantia ones...

Not necessarily as you can get suitable outboard pumps I'm sure... There are electric water pumps for use with engines.. Often used where they run without a fan belt and the original water pump is fan belt driven. Saves a bit of BHP loss allegedly...

Popular with racing BMC A series engines and the like...

Never mind eh :)

Are you planning an "off car" installation?

Ha ha!!

Nah nothing like that Adam.

Was thinking that if it had a built in pump then remote start units are very cheap now so its a possible mod for people and could be fired up 10minutes before they need to leave and thus they get to a nice warm vehicle and better for the engine as well :D Good for our norsk friends so they don't need block heaters and such :D

I have forced the one on my C8 to run with Lexia, I went into the heater and selected actuator tests and it was in there.

When you mentioned pump I took it you were talking about a fuel rather than water pump  #-o anyway if you want to fit an auxiliary water pump then look at E39 BMW's and in particular 530i as they have them fitted as standard just behind the radiator.

Yeah the petrol and diesel ones are slightly different but there are so many fitted to JLR products with the pump and bits already on for remote firing :)

Ah well, when I get the car back I'll test it and leave it to idle for a bit so as to keep the engine cold and maybe have a hose running cold water over the block to keep it cold and the fbh should stay fired up then :D

I really cant remember but think it was, do remember pressing the test and then groping on the floor seeing it light and produce heat.
