The one on the HDi Xantia has no internal pump Will, it relies on the engine water pump for circulation...
Some do have pumps but not the Xantia ones...

Re: Auxiliary Heater testing Fuel Burning Heater
Not necessarily as you can get suitable outboard pumps I'm sure... There are electric water pumps for use with engines.. Often used where they run without a fan belt and the original water pump is fan belt driven. Saves a bit of BHP loss allegedly...KP wrote:Ahh dang, that's that idea out the window then
Popular with racing BMC A series engines and the like...

Re: Auxiliary Heater testing Fuel Burning Heater
Ha ha!!
Nah nothing like that Adam.
Was thinking that if it had a built in pump then remote start units are very cheap now so its a possible mod for people and could be fired up 10minutes before they need to leave and thus they get to a nice warm vehicle and better for the engine as well
Good for our norsk friends so they don't need block heaters and such

I have forced the one on my C8 to run with Lexia, I went into the heater and selected actuator tests and it was in there.

When you mentioned pump I took it you were talking about a fuel rather than water pumpKP wrote:But if it has a pump Jim is that not circulating or is the pump on a different circuit?

Re: Auxiliary Heater testing Fuel Burning Heater
Yeah the petrol and diesel ones are slightly different but there are so many fitted to JLR products with the pump and bits already on for remote firing
Ah well, when I get the car back I'll test it and leave it to idle for a bit so as to keep the engine cold and maybe have a hose running cold water over the block to keep it cold and the fbh should stay fired up then

Re: Auxiliary Heater testing Fuel Burning Heater
I really cant remember but think it was, do remember pressing the test and then groping on the floor seeing it light and produce heat.KP wrote:Was the engine running at the time H2?
