one for the woderful techies on here

Post by citronut »

whilst my Galaxy S2 was out of action my brother gave me a HTC desire HD A1919 on Android,
it was just about ok most of the time,

now i have sorted my Galaxy and put it back into use i gave her in doors the HTC,

for some reason if i try ringing the HTC my Galaxy rings oonce then beeps and hangs up every time, although i can still send txt's to the HTC,

also when i try to ring the HTC it does not respond at all, not even showing a missed call,

i have tried her in doors sim back in her old Samsung Tocco and it works fine,

my phone is on Orange and her in doors's phone is on Tesco mobile,

i have spoken to Orange customer support, they say theres nout wrong with my Galaxy or the net work

Malcolm, somewhere in the setting of the HTC settings there will be a security wipe, if you do that, it will clear all the data and restore it to.the factory settings....... should solve the problem. Could be worth doing to the S2 as well

thanks Steve

my son has already done a back to factory setting reset,
wouldn't this do the a security reset at the same time ?????

it seems it is only my No. that appears to be blocked,
as my daughter is on Orange/EE and can call her mums No. ,
so far it only looks like its my No. not able to call this HTC,

even though the HTC will receive txt's from my phone

It sounds like you've managed to block your own number........ silly old so and so.......

This is where, you maybe need the advice.of a HTC expert (I use a BlackBerry) but there should be a way to unblock the number, I just don't know how on that kind of phone

strange that as i have never blocked any No. on any of the phones i have ever had,

i do know this HTC seems to have kept something in its brain from my brother linking to his email address,

even after a factory reset

I wonder if a SIM lock has somehow been engaged? I can recall a previous phone having the option that (provided the options had been enabled) if the SIM card was swapped the phone would not accept the swap unless the SIM lock had been disabled before swapping the SIM card. This was not the same as the PIN number used to unlock the phone on power up.

James could that be the case, as her indoors's sim is working fine, or it seems to be, wouldnt that come up with no sim installed, or sim not recognized with her Tesco sim fitted?????

It can depend on the phone. So will come up with a SIM card error, other phones are capable of SIM free operation (you can still use it as a PDA, but without cellular operations). What happens if you put the SIM cards back as they were? It is the phone that engages the SIM lock, not the SIM.

On Android phones there is a "reject" list. If you open a contact and hit the left button, one of the options is "add to reject list". Check you haven't done this... to check, open the phone dialer, hit the left button, click on "call settings" and one of the options should be "call rejection" (or similar, depending on how up to date your Android version is) Go into the auto rejection part, and it will list all the numbers set to reject..

yes, it would. Your arse has probably been messing with the phone while it was in your pocket and didn't have the keyboard lock on.
