Thanks, Kind of James, but I've absolutely no inclination to DIY it as I don't really know what I'm doing and it's 20 years since I did anything like this on a car!

Not quite that long but can be a pig getting them apart. Those kits look like a pretty good deal, I think I paid more than that from ebay.

Re: C5 MK1 Rear arm bearings. .
i personally think at the price of the kits in that link, they must be rather cheep components supplied,
here are the parts i used on one of the C5's i sorted,
if they come apart with no problems i recon 2.5 hours each side,
then it also depends on if and what you want done with the usual C5 rear caliper issue, thats if it rears its ugly head,
as that adds to the cost,
the last one i did was for a car sales
and they asked me to leave the calipers, so i did the arm bearing job with the calipers attached to the arms

I think the calipers have already been done Malcolm. Don't forget Citroenmad Chris had this car before... it's a good one, which is why I'll get the arm bearings done.

Can I use it while it's making this noise? Going to Brussels by road tomorrow am... I'd rather go in the C5 as I can do 90 in this for the same economy as 70 in the Berlingo, and it's quieter at speed.

Re: C5 MK1 Rear arm bearings. .
If its just started making the cracking noise and long motorway trip, carry on.
If contemplating doing the job I strongly suggest soaking all parts to be dismantled in plusgas or similar for a couple of days and try to get pin out as that was a right problem when I did near side, which is supposed to be the worst side. If you source parts and a garage will do it for £100 or similar amout, get the garage to do it.
The other side will have similar wear.....and will need doing in the near future,....

Re: C5 MK1 Rear arm bearings. .
I think i payed £50 for the kit and I was charged £157 for labour, but that included fitting two track rod ends and a drive shaft boot so can't really say how much the radius bearings were to do. If you leave them your rear tyres will wear funny and rapidly. I only did the one side needed but now 4000 miles later am just starting to hear something for the other side. I think it's time to buy another kit. I most certainly not doing it myself. It seems like my idea of hell.

I certainly won't be doing it myself Davie. Oddly, over the last 300 miles it's not made a single noise. Chris did warn me that the bearings were occasionally noisy.

Re: C5 MK1 Rear arm bearings. .
I have never had one that bad though, as long as there is still enough arm left to hold the bearings in position its OK.
