What spheres from GSF?

Unread post by foeism »

Hi

Just been on the GSF website looking for rear anti sink, and a front accumulator for my 1998 2.1td sx xantia (has 6 spheres altogether).

I would rather ask on here, then ask someone at my local GSF store as they deal with all sorts of parts and I want to be sure.

My question is from the link below, which are the part numbers I require for my model xantia for a rear antisink and a front accumulator? As ther seems to be 2 types accumulator sphere, 1 anti sink and a rear sphere centre??

http://www.gsfcarparts.com/parts/steeri ... ion-sphere

Thanks

The reason for this is because of the different types of suspension found on the Xantia. There is the basic 6 sphere setup, with narrow pipework. Then there is the hydractive suspension, with thicker pipework and 8 spheres (to switch between sports and comfort mode), and finally there is the Activa system, with 10 spheres and reactive extra rams.

I clicked on the link, and it took me to a screen asking for the registration, so my selection would not help. However, if your Xantia has the standard suspension (no extra buttons on the dashboard to switch between modes) select the spheres for NON hydractive (after you have entered the registration), and that should get the right spheres.

Have you tried AEP Direct? Even with P&P their prices might be better.

AEP sell IFHS brand spheres, GSF sell Amtex brand, so no they don't come from the same manufacturer. There is some debate amongst forum members as to which is better or whether there is a significant difference between them. I've only used IFHS spheres so can't comment on the Amtex ones.

I'd rather wait two weeks for the spheres from AEP than nip around the corner to get them from my local GSF.

Not exactly. It goes basic suspension (6 spheres), hydractive suspension (8 spheres), Activa (10 spheres).
