Shady practice?

Post by Northern_Mike »

Altering the default service interval from 12500 to 6250 miles using Lexia, without telling customer, presumably to get your customer to come for servicing more often?

Does this class as shady practice?

Might depend on what engine the car has, if it's a 1.6 HDi a sensible move  otherwise slightly unusual but of course it might have been done inadvertently unless you know otherwise. What's the full story Mike?

Quite simple really. Had a garage look at it in summer when at the knock and had a pair of drop links fitted. I know he had it on the Lexia to see about the horn fault too.

I know for sure it always said 12500 when the indicator was reset, now I've just serviced it today, reset it and it only says 6250 instead. It's clearly been reset. I was told to take it back when I needed an oil change and it would be done in half an hour..

It's the Berlingo. 2.0HDi 8v. I get the impression it could actually go until the end of time without a oil change.

I wonder if the counter reset is the same as the one for a Xantia?

All you do on the Berlingo is hold the button on the speedo down, and turn the ignition on and wait for the countdown.

My Lexia install is playing up otherwise I'd have already reset it back to 12500. Last thing I want is it pestering Adriana in 4 months time to service it.
