Whatsthisthen?

I was waiting to turn right onto the A1 just up from Morpeth, when this rare vehicle passed by heading north. Didn't immediately identify it but had a good idea, and as luck would have it I emerged into the A1 directly behind it. Managed to catch it up and confirm its identity. So here it is (well not the actual vehicle which was an old L-Reg green one) and if I say the leg in the shot belongs to Quentin Wilson this may be of some assistance.

Maybe I should have just shown Quentin Wilson's leg and not the auto gear shift thingy...............You must be familiar with the Ro 80's interior.

Yes the pints go to you DickieG

It would seem appropriate as the car is a product of the Neckarsulm Strickmaschinen Union, to offer a beerwith Neckarsulm connections....

Well we are in luck seeing as Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG the German global discount supermarket chain, is based in Neckarsulm!

so how about this

ps might as well have a look at the lines of the RO80 in full......nice

Here is another interesting spot for today taken by one of my daughters while waiting for the bus. Summer is just about still here

I dont have the answer, and not even sure if its just a DIY job/ motorcycle based fancy trike or what...

The driver/passenger both wore goggles. Its a pity that the number plate wasn't clearer....autotrader vehicle check is pretty good at identifying vehicle types and year from number plates.

Any ideas

Neil

I recall driving one many years ago and had fun with that gear lever as just the slightest touch on the knob would put the car into neutral, nice cars from what I recall.

Very nice, thank you :)

The trike could well be a Lomax

The 3-wheeler could well be Lomax built to a particular customer specifictation. I see that their HQ is in Malcolm Country in East Sussex at the Cradley Motor Works. From their website

"The Lomax range of kitcars, is based on the "ultra reliable Citroen 2CV, has been in near constant production since 1982. The ever popular 223 is the three wheel version of the original which was inspired by Morgan."

If you look closely at the photo, the words "Morgan Tribute" are on the engine cover.

Don't know if anyone can identify a 2cv engine from the bits poking out at the front.

I believe they use engines from Moto Guzzi rather than a 2CV.

Nope, not an Edsel.. Its grille got a lot of criticism in the day because it looked a bit like a piece of female anatomy... It did't have a light in the middle of it..

I thought only the Rover P4 Cyclops sported such a thing.
